How Does Figpii Identify A Mobile Device?
Why device targeting matters
Visitors behave differently depending on the device they're using. Screen size changes what's visible without scrolling, touch changes how people interact with navigation and forms, and mobile visitors are often in a different context entirely, shorter sessions, more interruptions, slower connections.
Because of this, the same design change can win on desktop and lose on mobile. If you run one experiment across both and look only at the combined result, those two opposite effects can cancel each other out and the test will read as flat when it wasn't.
For this reason, FigPii recommends running separate experiments for each device type rather than one combined experiment, wherever your traffic volume allows it. See What Device Type Should I Run My Experiment On?
A note on the visual editor
When you set device targeting to All, the visual editor displays the desktop view only , but your changes apply to both desktop and mobile visitors.
This matters when your site is responsive: an element you move or restyle for the desktop layout may render differently on a smaller screen. It's worth previewing your variation on a mobile device before launching, rather than relating on the editor view alone.
